Originally from Long Island, New York, I now live in the Northeast. My love for cooking and baking began as a young girl watching Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet on TV. I read cookbooks as if they were novels - being transported to different lands and regions. My mother and aunts were excellent cooks who tended bountiful gardens. Some of my earliest and favorite food memories revolve around picking vegetables from the garden and watching them be transformed to simple but flavorful dishes. Gorgeous tomatoes fresh off the vine with a bit of homemade dressing. Fresh zucchini, breaded and pan-fried. Delicious.
Later in life I attended and graduated from culinary school in New York, where I was fortunate to study under some phenomenal chef instructors. My first love is baking. I enjoyed creating specialty cakes with French buttercreams and pastillage flowers for weddings and events. Over the years I've worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry. But first and foremost, I consider myself a family caregiver. Everything else is peripheral. My knowledge from culinary school and a lineage of amazing cooks carry me through this journey. I am not a chef, instead I am happy to be a home cook and baker with an appetite to continue learning.
My other interests include writing, photography, playing guitar and spending time with family and friends. Good food, good music, good company. and of course - faith. A simple recipe for life, but one that I cherish.
